Jordan Bermudez

Jordan High School ‘15

Campaign Manager

A native of Durham, NC, Jordan Bermudez is a 2015 graduate of Charles E. Jordan Senior High School. As a Morehead-Cain Scholar, she received her Bachelor of Arts in Exercise and Sport Science with a concentration in Sport Administration from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill in May of 2019. Currently, Jordan is entering her second year as a master's student in Sport Administration at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.

Arianna Boyd

Treasurer

After graduating from Durham Academy, Arianna accepted a full scholarship to and is a rising senior Chemistry major and Spanish minor at Howard University in Washington, D.C. On-campus, she serves as a Student Ambassador and the community service chair for NCNW and Breaking the Cycle. Arianna works heavily as an educator, counselor, and mentor for underserved youth in Durham, NC, and Washington, D.C.

Jorren Biggs

Jorren is a 2019 graduate of JD Clement Early College in Durham, NC and is currently double majoring in African-American & African Diaspora Studies and Political Science at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. He is interested in understanding the ways in which marginalized communities interact with political systems to effect change. In his free time, Jorren enjoys listening to music and debating whether or not The Office is better than Parks and Recreation.

Aissa Dearing is a #DurhamNative and a junior at Howard University. She studies History with a concentration in Geography and Environmental Studies. Aissa loves organizing around environmental justice, racial equity and youth justice.

Madeline Streilein

Durham School of the Arts ‘14

Eckerd College

Campaign Advisor

Madeline Streilein is an alumna of Hillary For America, Philip Levine for Governor, and the North Carolina Democratic Party’s Break the Majority 2018 campaign. She is presently a Frontend Developer at Savas Labs. She graduated from Durham School of the Arts in 2014 before attending Eckerd College in Saint Petersburg, FL where she obtained a B.A. in Anthropology.

Zach Meredith

Campaign Advisor

Zach Meredith currently works at the Community Empowerment Fund in Chapel Hill, NC. He is a recent graduate of the College of William & Mary, where he received his BA in American Studies. Native to Durham, Zach attended Forest View Elementary, Githens Middle, and CE Jordan High. He is passionate about local history and plans to pursue a career as an educator.

Lakychia Barnes Myers

Lakychia Barnes Myers is a wife and mother of two beautiful daughters. She holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Child Development and Family Relations and Master’s Degree in Human Science from North Carolina Central University. She also has been a licensed Cosmetologist since 1996. Currently, she works as a child care professional and the Founder of H.A.W.K.S. Foundation.

Bethlehem is a sophomore at Duke University studying History, African and African American Studies and Education. She has lived in Durham for most of her life and is a graduate of Durham Public Schools. She currently works for Made in Durham and her interests include writing, community organizing, and reintegration support.

Derrick is a Durham Native, History & Political Science student at North Carolina Central University. Derrick enjoys engaging in public policy, higher education, and continual learning about African American History. Upon graduation, he plans on pursuing a career as a community organizer and a Civil Rights Attorney.
